Dump Luck: 10 Indispensable ‘No Dumping’ Signs

Silent But Deadly

They don’t waste words out in east-central California’s rugged and scenic Sierra Nevada region. It would appear they don’t waste wood either: this sign in Buck Meadows (and this one, in nearby Chinese Camp) are painted right on the pavement, bold blue over bright white. We’ll assume the painters cleaned their brushes very, very carefully. (image via zemistor)

Yes You Wood!

“Honey, where’s my tree suit, I got some dumpin’ to do!” And when you’re done, best practice dictates one follows Biff Tannen’s sage advice – dump like a tree and leave. Seriously though, we gotta ask… who dumps trees? Honestly! (image via nathanmac87)

The Evil Umpire

An interesting twist on the classic “NO Ball Playing” sign is this well-worn screed from Glasgow, Scotland… not exactly a hotbed of baseball but still. Give the Scots credit though: when they play they play by the rules, with Rule #1 being “There be nae rules, laddie”. (image via Stuart Cunningham)

Job One

While we’re on the subject of rules… no one expects the Japanese prohibition! Our rules are three: NO dumping here and, uhh, scratch that, our rules are ONE but it’s stated in Japanese, Chinese and English so there are no excuses for your blasphemous dumping, whoever you are! Bullet Point

Meanwhile in ‘Murica… a Second Amendment solution. It would appear the landowner got dumped (so to speak) one time too many and they’re NOT gonna get dumped – or dumped on – again! Note the wording on this sign: not “No Dumping” but “Dump” – and face the double-barreled consequences. It’s as if they’re just daring the evildoin’ dumper to do the dastardly deed right in plain sight (or should we say, gun-sight). Hey, they don’t call it the Home of the Brave fer nuthin’!
