Love Fur Sale: 10 Non-Dogmatic Pet Shop Signs

Goldy Prawn

Love Fur Sale: 10 Non-Dogmatic Pet Shop Signs

Need something to pump… you and your aquarium up? The Goldy Pet Shop in Legazpi City, the Philippines has got you covered! This gloriously hand-painted pet shop sign features a ripped goldfish hoisting a dumbbell fitted with sand dollars – not that there’s anything wrong with that. If SpongeBob ever needs a personal trainer, he’d better get his abs to Goldy’s. (pet shop sign image via Joe Coyle)

What’s Sop?

The unusual “alternative” spelling displayed on this charmingly hand-made sign from somewhere in the Balkans isn’t even the weirdest thing about it. That would be the bizarre two-headed parrot perched above the waves. Hmm, wonder how much they charge for one of those? Also, how many fjords is it pining for? (pet shop sign image via a.hodus)

Cat Attraction

Neko Action (Cat Action)”, the photographer states, “is never open when I walk by in Yanaka, but it is my favorite thing.” It just might be ours too, at least when it comes to pet shop signs. What’s not to like? The 3D sign, the store name spelled out on oversized post-it notes, and of course the quintessentially Japlish store name itself. Do you feel an attraction to Cat Action? Hopefully it’ll open sometime to provide buyers, seller and nekos with harmonious satisfaction! (pet shop sign image via Molly Des Jardin)

It’s a Bug AND a Feature

“Snakes, Lizards, Frogs, Scorpions, Spiders, Centipedes”… and as we’re in Australia, you can assume they’re venomous, poisonous or both! Just to clarify, the sign above advertises a pet shop in Semaphore, a northwestern suburb of Adelaide in the sunny state of South Australia. It does NOT advertise an exterminator – can you imagine the nightmarish critters an Aussie vermin control company has to deal with? Probably escaped “pets” purchased from this store. Bitchin’ Pet Shop!

Love Fur Sale: 10 Non-Dogmatic Pet Shop Signs

This pet shop sign not only rocks on multiple levels, it’s the kind of societal sighting we all love to share (hint hint!) on social media. Alas, the suburban Seattle shop with its bodacious bitchin’ sign – and an obligatory Bitchin’ Camaro parked out back, we bet – couldn’t succeed at its primary purpose, closing its brick & mortar location and dismantling its awesome signage sometime in 2012.
