Current plans call for the Pittsburgh eBike to make next-day-air deliveries to commercial businesses downtown area on week days. These types of deliveries are guaranteed by 10:30 a.m. so eBike-watchers have their best shot of spotting the vehicle in the early morning hours. Between shifts it will be stored in a garage on Fort Pitt Boulevard.
A special vehicle calls for a special driver and UPS feels they’ve found the latter in Andrew Trebesh. The 22-year-old is a lifelong resident of Mt. Washington and he knows the area like the back of his hand. The back of his foot as well: for the past three years he’s been delivering UPS packages downtown as an air package walker. “I’m excited about it,” stated Trebesh. “It will make my job easier to ride instead of walk and it will be good for UPS to get the word out about (the eBikes). Hopefully, the company can take them to other centers throughout the country.” What can Brown do for you when it’s gone green? We – or at least, Pittsburgh – are about to find out.
