Here’s To Hue: Gik’s Shocking Bright Blue Wine

The Basque region’s wine country centered on La Rioja, Zaragoza, León and Castilla-La Mancha boasts a gentle climate similar to that in France’s famed Champagne district.

In contrast to practices in the heartland of fine French sparkling wines, however, Gik’s founders have thrown official industry terminology out the window by referring to its in-house winemakers as creators, designers, and artists. The casual informality goes further at company offices where flexible schedules and unconventional office spaces are the norm.

As one might surmise, Gik’s founding entrepreneurs are all under thirty years of age and although they have no practical, hands-on experience in the wine trade, they have reached out to local winemakers whose expertise has been honed for generations.

In addition, Gik’s principals spent two years in consultation and collaboration with the University of the Basque Country in order to ensure their unique blue wine not only looked good, but tasted good as well.
