Wet Heat: A Floating Wooden Sauna In Seattle

Any sauna room worth steaming in must have certain essential interior fittings. In the case of the wa-sauna, those features include walls sheathed in Alaskan yellow cedar panels and a staggered row of seats that face a small wood-burning stove… one assumes users will need to load sufficient burnable fuel on board before they shove off the pier! A second, smaller rooftop deck is accessed via an external ladder while egress from the roof is quick and easy using the built-in diving board.

What looks like a window in the back of the sauna is actually a “cool-down hatch”: users can open the hatch after sauna-ing to allow the heat to escape, or just crack it a little if some fresh air circulation is desired.
