Gremlins On Ice
Whatever happened to Stripe, the evil leader of the Gremlins form the eponymous 1984 movie? The image above tells us he was, shall we say, “put on ice” to ensure the malicious morphed mogwai didn’t get up to any more monkeyshines. Someone alert Buzzard-Feed News, that’s a great big beak! Birdlike though it may be, this avianomorphic berg “calved” from Argentina’s Perito Moreno glacier – how’s that for some mixed metaphors? The Hole Thing
Who, or more ominously what, is making circular holes in Antarctica’s icebergs? Not just random circular depressions, mind you, but holes seemingly placed to resemble a snowman’s eyes, nose and mouth? It would be cute if not for the fact that Antarctica is uninhabited… or so we’ve been told. (image via Anita Ritenour)
Cairo Factor
Here’s a photo that’ll give you paws er, paws… a gigantic snowy sphinx gazing off in the direction of Egypt! To be fair, this close to the South Pole a gaze in any direction is towards the north but still. Gotta admire the sculptor (even if it’s Mother Nature) who carved this clawed creature out of Antarctica’s eons-old ice cap. (image via ravas51)
Turnin’ Turtle
You’ll never know what you might find in an Icelandic glacial lagoon but a grinning turtle is pretty far down the list. Just one more reason to toss that list – or better yet, burn it for warmth.
