The Green Falcon electric motorcycle from Philippines-based Banatti is a clean, green, two-wheeled driving machine with an ultra-lightweight bamboo body.
Dubbed “The Green Falcon” by the design team at Philippines-based Banatti, this environmentally-friendly electric motorcycle may not fly but it’s most definitely green. The sleek chopper’s body shell weighs a mere 6.5 kg or just over 14 pounds, thanks to an innovative construction technique employing layers of epoxy-resin-infused bamboo.
Banatti states the Green Falcon was made to exemplify ways in which green transportation solutions can benefit the Philippines in a resource-poor future. They’re also gambling on an expected abundance of cheap bamboo. The Philippine Department of Energy and Natural Resources has announced it will be planting 10 million hectares of bamboo by the year 2020. The fast-growing perennial has proven to be a successful tool for rehabilitating former mining areas, assisting with erosion control, reducing a region’s CO2 footprint, and a renewable source of building materials.
