Clean Green Machine
Drones boast a number of advantages over current wind turbine maintenance methodology, which, as Aerones points out, can be “very slow, expensive, and involves a high risk for ground-based personnel.” Speed is a virtue as well, especially when the job site is a large, multi-turbine wind farm. Depending on the size of the turbine blades and on-site wind conditions, the Aerones drone can clean or deice 30 blades (10 turbines) in the course of a single day. It can even be used to clean wind generators at sea when controlled by a ship-based operator.
Droning On
“There are also many other applications for our drone,” adds Aeronas CEO Putrāms. “One is firefighting, another is human rescue, and there are also many sports applications.” Can you imagine water-skiing pulled not by a motorboat but a drone? Aeronas has – all it takes is a vision, a little ingenuity, and the promise of clean, green, efficient electric power facilitated by well-maintained wind turbines. It’s the circle of life, alternative energy style!
