It wouldn’t be a white Christmas without the iconic Coca-Cola delivery roaring down London’s snowy boulevards, distributing sugary drinks while pouring stinky particulate-laden exhaust into the frosty air. It wouldn’t be a very green Christmas either, and that’s put more than a few folks’ noses out of joint. One of them decided to do something about it. Specifically, inventor Yannick Read has built a zero-emissions version that delivers a healthier alternative drink in a breathtakingly “green” manner.
Ladies and gents, behold the Green Cola trailer! The custom-built aluminum-sided trailer can boast 88 cubic feet of cargo space – more carrying capacity than its chief competitor, the ubiquitous Transit Courier van. In fact, or at least according to London-based Read, this bespoke trailer is the largest such bicycle-towed trailer in the world. Being that it’s a Green Cola trailer, it’s stuffed to the gills with Green Cola, a Stevia-sweetened beverage containing no extraneous chemicals, additives or preservatives.
Read designed the Green Cola trailer to be sustainable AND practical. To wit, the six-wheeled Green Cola trailer is light enough to be towed by a small folding bicycle even when fully loaded. Read’s blueprint dictates a width of just 64cm or just over two feet, enabling the articulated trailer to slip through road traffic like a knife through butter, er, margarine. If that sounds a tad dangerous, fear not: approximately 3,500 low-voltage LED lights affixed to the exterior ensure a larger-than-life presence among the lorries, black cabs and odd royal coaches plying London’s byways.
