Reality TV inspires reality photography, it seems, as “Mudskippers Got Talent” won a “Highly Commended” award for photographer Daniel Trim. Who knew mudskippers even had talent… not counting the legendary Muddy Mudskipper, of course, who had an unreal show of his own inside The Ren & Stimpy Show.

This isn’t the foxhole you were thinking of but hey, “any port in a storm” will do, amiright? Photographer Douglas Croft was “Highly Commended” for this once-in-a-lifetime lucky shot he likes to call “Must Have Three-Putted”. We’d like to think the fox later treated Croft to a beer a little later at The 19th Hole bar.

It’s no coincidence these er, affectionate bears were “Caught In The Act” by a photographer named Bence Mate… or is it? This “Highly Commended” photo might be a tad steamy (in more ways than one) but Mate will gladly take the award and run… something one should do when causing Kodiak Interruptus lest things come to a very grizzly end.

With all these greens there must be a carrot under here somewhere. This particular bunny doesn’t seem too bugged by photographer Olivier Colle while the latter wasn’t at all put off by the critter’s notable case of turf breath. “Eh What’s Up Doc?” was chews, er, chosen for a “Highly Commended” award at the 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards competition.

Well if this doesn’t seal the deal, what will? One of these beached elephant seals shows off its “WTF” face in photographer George Cathcart’s “Highly Commended” image titled – wait for it – “WTF”. Umm, we don’t think that’s short for “Wait ‘Til Friday” but whatEVAR, don’t start blubbering over it.

The 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards competition has been held since 2015 with the intention of raising and spreading awareness about wildlife conservation. “It’s been a real success this year,” stated photographer Paul Joynson-Hicks, one of the competition’s founders, “the quality of images has improved substantially and we have had more entries and from more countries.” No doubt there’ll be even more fun in store for the fourth annual competition coming up in 2018.
