Garcia soon discovered that he could employ the new medium of virally-spread, person-to-person art appreciation to his advantage: several series of Jumping Brain sculptures boasting distinct compositions, sizes and colors have been released in succession, often in very limited editions in a bid to support their value.
Shake, Rattle & Ribbet
Garcia has pursued other avenues to make his Jumping Brains ever more distinct and collectible. One notable example was the Hinomaru edition, created in response to the devastating earthquake and tsunami that ravaged northeastern Japan in March of 2011.
The Hinomaru Jumping Brain was released for pre-order on March 30th 2011, less than 20 days after the disaster, and comprises an all-white resin figure split down the middle concealing a red circle at its center. 100% of funds raised through sales of the Hinomaru Jumping Brain were donated to people in Japan affected by the disaster and its aftermath.
