Phillip Derthick wanted to give his wife Marie a unique and impressive gift to mark their 50th wedding anniversary and after racking his brain, found the solution right at his feet… on his farm in Mantua, Ohio. Enlisting their children in what had to be a labor of love, the 72-year-old Derthick dug out a photo taken at his wedding to Marie, now 75, and got to work carving what must have been the world’s largest photo-copy out of the farm’s 17 square acre cornfield.

“I thought they were nuts,” related Marie Derthick after seeing the family’s organic handiwork, “but it turned out a-maze-ing!” Joining the happy couple in the neatly manicured rows of corn are the church where they were married and, at the bottom, Phillip’s favorite antique tractor.

Does it matter if the Billy Mays Maize Maze is real or a clever albeit obvious photoshop job? No, it does not, because it is AWESOME! But wait, there’s more… actually there isn’t any more, for this corn maze or, as it happens, Billy Mays.
