The “Caring for Tigers Together” promotional partnership with Transaero Airlines allows the Amur Tiger Project to “attract the attention of the Russian and international community to the conservation of rare and endangered species.” What better way to attract attention then by painting the nose of a Boeing 747-400 widebody jet with the face of an Amur tiger, along with the logo of the Amur Tiger Project in English on one side and Russian on the other. On Transaero Airlines’ inaugural “Tiger Flight” from Moscow to Sochi and back, a special draw was held with prizes awarded to the winning seat-holder: a seven-year-old boy won the draw on the flight to Sochi and a six-year-old girl won on the return flight to Moscow. As well, all children on the “Tiger Flight” received tiger-themed rucksacks and illustrated books about the Amur tiger. Just as today’s children embody our hopes for a better future, it’s hoped that children made aware of the Amur Tiger’s plight today will act to protect the species tomorrow. (image via Papas Dos)
