Zorlu Ecocity, Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul’s historic center is so heavily traveled that city planners are trying to multiply the number of urban centers in the area to preserve the history of the oldest parts of the city. Zorlu Ecocity is part of that plan; as a community for living, working and playing, it truly is a city within the city. The 14 towers featured in the design would house residences, offices, hotels, and even a senior living facility. The buildings feature green walls and roofs, and the entire design is rich with green spaces. Designed by famed eco-architects Llewelyn Davies Yeang, the project may not be actually built anytime soon, but it does seem like an ideal way to green up a city, cut down on the need for vehicles, and introduce more eco-friendly buildings to any city.
