Dragonfly Vertical Farm Concept

Brillian Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut based this vertical farm’s design on the wings of a dragonfly. It’s meant to alight on New York’s Roosevelt Island to address the problems caused by food having to travel such long distances before reaching consumers. The massive 132-floor design includes space for 28 different agricultural fields and would accommodate the production of fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and grains. The structure would also contain space for laboratories, offices, and even residences among the agricultural space.
