Sky Village, Rodovre, Denmark

Independent Danish municipality Rodovre needed a new residential tower, so they put out a call to architects. MVRDV and ADEPT answered that call with their Sky Village design. The building will be mixed-use, including offices as well as retail and living spaces, and will be based on “pixels” or cubes. The pixels will be arranged around the building’s central core in a flexible design. The decidedly futuristic-looking building will include plenty of spaces for sky gardens in the residential areas, letting residents have plush gardens and lawns even though they live in a skyscraper. Other eco-friendly elements of the design include greywater recycling, energy-producing devices in the facade, and using recycled concrete in the construction.
