Harvest Green Urban Vertical Farm

Romses Architects won a design competition sponsored by the City of Vancouver with this design, the Harvest Green Vertical Farm. The group isn’t joking around when they use the word “harvest;” they intend the building to be used to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, fish, egg-laying chickens, and even sheep and goat dairy products. The building will use solar, geothermal and wind power as well as producing methane from compostable materials. Their dynamic design would also include a space for a large farmer’s market supermarket, agricultural research and education, and even residential and hospitality areas.
