Floating Recycled Green Roof House Concept

Architects in the Netherlands are known for their creativity, and this concept is no exception. It was conceived as the ultimate exploration of floating green home design, and it succeeds in many ways. The home itself is made of recycled coffee cups, packing peanuts and other polystyrene packaging. It’s covered entirely with vegetation which pulls nutrients from the lake on which the house floats. The collaboration between Michael Krueger, Anne Holtrop and Patrick Blanc would not only cut down on packaging pollution in landfills, but would cut down significantly on traditional home energy costs and add a pleasant aesthetic to urban dwelling.
