Parti Wall, Boston

When over 25,000 visitors flocked to Boston for the 2008 convention of the National Institute of Architects, the Young Architects Boston Group wanted to give them something fantastic to look at. The result was a project called Parti Wall, Hanging Green which consisted of a five-story-high experimental green wall suspended on the side of a newly converted loft building. The group sewed seedum panels onto a mesh substrate, then attached them to interlaced threaded metal rods. The prototype was meant to educate the public and the architectural community that zero-footprint public art is possible and can even contribute to a much more attractive city.
