Massive Representational Earth Sculpture

Michael Heizer is one of the most prolific large-scale land artists in the world. This work is exceptional, though, not for its scale but for its subject matter – Heizer usually eschews representational art in favor of abstraction and geometric forms. In this case, however, he selected regional species (from water striders frogs and turtles) to be the subjects of his massive mounded artworks formed of the surrounding earth. (Source)
