Giant Sand Beach Drawings of Jim Denevan

Jim Denevan makes freehand drawings in the sand at monumental scales – carrying with him a single stick as he walks up to dozens of miles over many hours to create giant geometrical works without the aid of any other instruments than his own senses. These great works are to be experienced “as places” from the ground though they take on other meaning from above and from a distance as they match the scales of larger surrounding natural phenomena and earthen patterns.
