Tidal Energy to Power Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz is a well-known tourist destination – the converted ultra-high-security prison now open to public visitation. In yet another energy-revolutionizing revision the former prison island is all set to go green with solar, wind and even tidal energy for its 100th birthday. Gardens will also be planted and sewage waste will be converted to biofuels in order to further reduce the island’s ecological footprint and make it more energy self-sufficient.
